I like this book because I think it’s interesting to see the world from a person with Asperger’s syndrome’s perspective. Christopher describes things down to every single detail, which I never do. Simple things like when he says that he has made a card to his mother, who he thinks is at the hospital, he describes every figure on the card and how he has made them. There are also several things that affect his life because of his Asperger’s syndrome. For example if he sees four yellow cars in a row on his way to school, he has a black day. If I see four cars of a certain color, I really don’t care.
He doesn’t like physical contact, and when a person touches him he screams and hit them. So when you read this book you understand that there are a lot of things you have to deal with if you have Asperger’s syndrome or if you are related to someone who has it. He can’t understand face expressions either. So when Christopher talks to people, he can’t read their faces and understand what mood they are in.
All this examples has made it easier to understand how people with Autism or Asperger’s life is. They care about things that other people don’t see as important and they are often extremely talented in one or a couple of things. So I think that this was a good book, and I really learned something while I was reading it.
